Please be aware: Preferred is a small, local finance company servicing South Louisiana only. We do not hire any 3rd party debt collectors. All debt collection is done in our office. If you receive a call from someone claiming to collect money on our behalf, it is a scam. Do NOT share any of your personal information.

If you have given your information out to someone pretending to collect money for our office:

First, contact your bank and let them know you may have given your information to a fraudulent company.

Log into each credit bureau & freeze your credit reports. If you do not have a log in, you can create free accounts on each site.

Go to the FTC’s website (link below), click report now & follow the instructions to file a report for an impersonator of a business. File a report on the business name (law firm or collection agency) that the scam caller is using.

Visit the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau’s website (link below) and start a new complaint. File the complaint on the business name that the caller is using (law firm, mediation firm, debt collector, etc.)

To register, go online to https://www.donotcall.gov/ to register your number on the National Do Not Call Registry List. This can lessen the amount of scam calls you receive. You can also report unwanted calls on this website.
